The first thing you should do is go RING SHOPPING! You can go about this two ways: 1) With your fiance, giving her more control over her engagement ring choice or 2) Without your fiance, maintaining the element of surprise. Either way, find out her preferences for the ring! Does she like white gold, yellow gold, or rose gold? What about cut - round, princess, marquise? Fun Tip: Search her on pinterest… She likely has a few styles saved that she likes. This will be your best friend when planning the perfect holiday proposal!

Hire a Trusted Photographer:

call it bias, but I would HIGHLY recommend A professional PHOTOGRAPHER! I can guarantee that this will be a moment that you will want documented and preserved for the rest of your life. Hiring a photographer will give you lifelong heirlooms to keep in your family… not to mean gorgeous content for sharing your announcement on social media! Win, win.Your photographer will be a fly on the wall, allowing you to privately enjoy every moment of your proposal, and then come out of hiding when you're ready for a few more photos. this will let you revel in your new engagement and love up on your honey!

Secure A Location (And Back-Up Plan):

Choose a location for your proposal and be sure to have a couple of locations in mind. This will benefit you greatly to ensure that you have a weather back-up plan. when selecting your location, think of What speaks to your girlfriend the most - a special restaurant? The location of your first date? A beautiful nature reserve? Choose an area that will be special for both of you, and pop the question when she least expects it! And remember - if plans change (because they do!), be flexible to pivot with your back-up plan. It always works out in the end!

Get Her Nails Done:

When thinking of all the little details of planning the perfect holiday proposal getting her nails done is TOP of the list! Because you'll likely have a photographer, she'll want to feel photo ready for every moment. Find a way to get her dressed up and feeling beautiful, and most importantly, make sure she gets her nails done beforehand. (A sneaky way to do this is by looping in a sister or friend for a “girl’s night!” :)

Plan an after Party:

an after party adds the PERFECT touch to a beautiful and romantic proposal. Personally when I got engaged, this was one of my favorite parts! Jon surprised me with a small get-together with my closest friends complete with cake, flowers, and balloons, and we all laughed and cried the night away. It was so special being able to share such a special moment with the people I loved most.
