Snowy Winter Wedding | Finger Lakes Region, NY || Natty & Jesse
It was a dreary December day for Natty and Jesse’s snowy winter wedding session in the finger lakes region, but the below-freezing temps and biting wind didn’t hold a candle to their fierce romance.
Together for over 11 years, Jesse and Natty have a calm, yet powerful love that feels like an anchor. It’s strong, steadying, and rooted in a foundation of mutual trust, respect, and tenderness.
When they first reached out, they explained that they originally planned a destination wedding, but COVID-19 had complicated things. So instead of waiting another day to be married, they decided to tie the knot with their immediate friends and family members with a simple ceremony at their home in Upstate, NY – preceded by a private first look and snowy winter wedding attire session with me in the Finger Lakes region. 😊
We crossed our fingers and prayed for snow, and when the weather forecasted flurries the week of their session, we definitely did lots of happy dancing! Wanting a naturally beautiful location (even in the dead of winter), we selected a nearby golf course that showcased sprawling lawns and towering pines, all glittering with snow and looking as if they were part of a magical snow globe.
This type of beauty isn’t uncommon in the Finger Lakes region, which is a 9,000 square mile wonder. The finger lakes area boasts waterfalls, gorges, vineyards, forests, and endless rolling hills, not to mention 11 finger-shaped, glacial lakes and one Great Lake. The Finger Lakes region falls in the heart of New York State and features many heavily trafficked wineries, including Keuka Wine Trail and Seneca Lake Wine Trail.
Our hometown falls just south of Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake, and it offers an endless number of options for naturally beautiful backdrops and picturesque views. Jesse, Natty, and I chose an area that spoke to the raw beauty of winter, and beginning with a private first look, they melted into one another and braved the cold for their snowy wedding session.
Despite snow, chilly temps, and a windchill that could kill, we had such a great time making art together as they tried on their new titles as husband and wife.
After a killer sunset (not to mention a few warm-up sessions in the car 😉), we finally made our way back to their house for a few sparkler pictures, and then they continued the night with a private wedding ceremony. What a beautiful wedding celebration—I am so thrilled for Natty and Jesse!
