Lake Tahoe Christian Elopement || Hannah and Sawyer

Romantic dip between newlyweds at dusk in Lake Tahoe

I won’t ever stop dreaming about this Lake Tahoe elopement where Hannah and Sawyer, united in their Christian faith and surrounded by their families, said their vows in front of the Sierra Nevada peaks.

It was surreal to say the least, and in spite of the jaw dropping majesty of the mountains, I think my favorite part had to be sharing in their faith.

Hannah and Sawyer are devoted Christians, and part of the reason they chose Lake Tahoe for their elopement was because it made them feel so close to God. I’ve heard it said that the earth bears God’s fingerprints, and in this instance, that couldn’t be truer. If Lake Tahoe was a canvas, it showed broad strokes of God’s creativity, ingenuity, and undeniable artistry.

Zephyr Cove was the location Hannah and Sawyer selected for their adventurous elopement, and they were surrounded by their 9 immediate family members. It was intimate, sacred, and truly holy as they shared their vows in front of God and surrounded his masterpiece of Lake Tahoe. Their ceremony moved me to my core and reminded why marriage, just like nature, reflects God’s beauty: it allows us to enjoy an ocean of love from our spouse, and simultaneously points to the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for his church.

After concluding their ceremony, we drove up US-50 E to the other worldly location of Sand Harbor Beach. Looking like a scene from Lord of the Rings, this destination is a vision of mountains, glittering beaches, giant rocks, glistening waters, and panoramic lake views. Breathless, Hannah, Sawyer, and I stood enveloped by the glory of the Sierra Nevada mountains and we were truly left speechless.

My experience in Lake Tahoe will forever be one of my favorite elopements, let alone one of my memories to date. Hannah and Sawyer’s ceremony was perfectly private, yet powerful, and it had a unifying undertone of shared values and belief systems. Together, we were able to create art that rang with conviction of our deepest held religious beliefs: that Jesus Christ loves us, has redeemed us, and is calling us to himself.

On a lighter note, I’ll happily note that Hannah and Sawyer have been my ONLY couple to do a cake smash of my last ~20ish weddings, and I was pretty stoked to say the least. #GiveMeAllTheCakeSmashes 👀 Their lighthearted, fun-loving, and sassy chemistry was the cherry on top of an already perfect day.

Overall, Lake Tahoe was the perfect destination for Hannah and Sawyer’s adventurous elopement. As the sun set in lavish lavendar and mango hues, it painted a gorgeous background to an already stunning day. Hannah and Sawyer shared a last dance at dusk, anchored by their faith and bound in love, and stepped into their new adventure as man and wife.
