A Deep Dive on Elopements: Why they are the PERFECT choice for your special day?

Today we’re talking all-things elopements: what they are, where to elope, how they can save you money, and why you should consider one! My goal is to educate and empower you to make a decision for your day that feels genuine to who you are as a couple!

Let’s start by defining what an elopement is. The OG definition of elopement is “to run away secretly with someone too marry.” Scandalous, right? ;) But my definition of an elopement is “to escape to a beautiful destination with your closest family and friends to marry the love of your life.” Honestly, that in it of itself is a compelling enough reason to elope, but allow me to elaborate…

There are three reasons a couple should consider eloping:

1. Authenticity: If you are a couple that likes hiking, exploring the great outdoors, or conversely, simply don’t like being the center of attention, an elopement might feel super true to who you are as a couple! Escape to a private, yet gorgeous destination and say your vows in the quiet of nature! That’s what my bride, Hannah, did and I’m still mega-swooning over this Lake Tahoe elopement.

2. Simplicity: If planning a wedding sounds like an anxiety attack waiting to happen, this route will be so much less overwhelming for you. Checklists, DIYing, and unending tasks aren’t for everyone, so consider an elopement if you’re a minimalist and want less on your plate!

3. Economical: If you’re not trying to break the piggy bank, you should absolutely consider an elopement! This route will allow you to save on the budget since a lot of wedding-traditional items aren’t necessary (formal venue, extravagant florals, tables and chairs, centerpieces, etc. etc. etc.) Grab your dress, suit, vows books, and flowers, and run away to the mountains!

4. And while this might seem minor compared to the other reasons, a final side perk is you don’t even need to tell or invite anyone! While this is more off-beat in our culture, all the more power to ya! Sometimes sharing the day with just you and your fiancé gives you the necessary space to soak up every moment of the day!
