For Jordan and Casey, selecting The Sherwood Inn as their wedding venue was a no brainer. Nested in the heart of the historic Village of Skaneateles, THIS colonial inn combines rich history and breathtaking scenery.

The Sherwood Inn was originally established as an old-fashioned tavern in 1807, and now beautifully restored, it accommodates weddings with as many as 200 guests. It has over 40 rooms, making it a great wedding weekend experience for your entire crew, and it boasts an idyllic setting to enjoy scenic views of Skaneateles Lake.

The Inn offers both indoor and outdoor spaces for ceremonies, making it a great weather-friendly option for the unpredictable climate of Upstate NY 🥲 Like Jordan and Casey, couples who land beautiful weather on their wedding day can leverage the Inn’s West Lawn, which is situated between the Sherwood Inn and the historic Hannum House. Or if it’s overcast, the ceremony can be moved inside where you’d find yourself saying I Do in a warm, cozy room, perfect for up to 80 guests.

Between impeccable wedding planning (special shoutout to The Scarlet Agency!!) and their thoughtful, bespoke details (peep their amazing acrylic signage by Art of Affairs, Paper and Pine Co, Bone and Darby Makers Co, and Pink Posies and Pearls), Jordan and Casey slayed the whole “wedding at an inn” vibe.

The Sherwood Inn is DEFINITELY a charming Finger Lakes wedding venue, but I’d be remiss not to take a moment and talk about the lake itself.

Stretching along Upstate New York’s rolling hills and green pastures for 16 miles, Skaneateles Lake is considered the Jewel of the Finger Lakes and is one of the cleanest lakes in the country. Skaneateles Lake was carved by ancient glaciers and has a rural feel with its surrounding farmlands and open spaces. It is the sixth largest of the Finger Lakes, and it is exceptionally serene and picturesque. Per my sources, it is also rumored to have lake homes for celebrities like Tom Cruise, Hilary Clinton, and Justin Bieber. 👀

Only 23 miles west of Syracuse, SKANEATELES LAKE is tucked away like a gemstone among the forested ridges of the Finger Lakes region and is simply an oasis of beauty.

The sparkling blue-green waters offer a tranquil getaway from hustle and bustle of everyday life, and the lake is oftentimes referred to as "The Roof Garden of the Lakes” because it is at a higher altitude than the other Finger Lakes.

SKANEATELES, NEW YORK IS A destination THAT lures travelers not only with its beauty and tranquility, but also with the charm of its village.

The scene of the village is painted with shops, restaurants, a museum, galleries, mom-and-pop B&B's, historic inns, and seasonal festivals, making it a quaint and colorful landscape for travelers. It has a rich history dating back to revolutionary times, with the first settlers being veterans of the revolutionary war who were awarded land grants as compensation for their service. The Village is even claimed to have a handful of homes that were stops on the Underground Railroad.

SKANEATELES is an affluent village with a vibrant downtown, and plotted AGAINST such a clear blue lake, it makes for a one-of-a-kind SCENE for any visitor.

This special location gives a fine-tuned peek into the beauty, luxury, and hospitality of Upstate New York, and it truly makes for a dreamy Finger Lakes wedding venue.

Jordan and Casey got an up-close and personal experience of this as the sunlight danced in the treetops on their warm September wedding. They scored a day that felt like a cupcake, rich with sunlight and frosted with a cerulean blue sky. The beautiful weather paired with the idyllic setting of Skaneateles Village made for a flawless wedding, and Jordan and Casey truly wedded in style.

I love how nature played a special role in JORDAN AND CASEY’S WEDDING, AND IN their engagement, TOO.

Jordan and Casey chose to do their Engagement Shoot at Taughannock Falls in Ithaca, NY – one of the tallest waterfalls in New York State – which was such an epic experience with the thundering falls pouring down behind us! Jordan and Casey have an amazing sense of adventure, and their love of the outdoors is refreshing. Jordan and Casey expanded on THEIR love of nature by weaving earthy colors INto their wedding COLOR palette; the sage green bridesmaids dresses, goldenrod accents in their fall decor, and robin’s egg blue of the Hannum House CREATED SUCH A SOOTHING AESTHETIC.

These tones complemented the charm and history of the Sherwood Inn, and elevated Jordan and Casey’s wedding color palette into a perfect blend of classic romance and raw beauty from the natural wonder of the Finger Lakes region.

It was truly such a joy to celebrate their marriage, becoming husband and wife in the most wholesome setting, and I’m so thrilled to cheer them on in this beautiful new adventure together. Here’s to Jordan and Casey, their elegant September wedding, and their gem of a Finger Lakes wedding venue.
